The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet has approved the issuance of sovereign guarantees worth Rs27.62 billion for the construction of the Sialkot (Sambrial)–Kharian Motorway (M-12) under a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model.

The decision was taken during an ECC meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb at the Finance Division.

According to an official statement, the committee also approved the rollover of an existing Operational Viability Gap Funding (VGF) guarantee of Rs6.944 billion, enabling the concessionaire to achieve financial close under the revised financing structure for the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project.

In a separate decision, the ECC approved the release of a Technical Supplementary Grant (TSG) for the Pakistan Television Corporation (PTVC) for the 2026-27 fiscal year. The committee authorized the quarterly release of Rs3.25 billion, allowing the state broadcaster to meet its operational and essential expenditure requirements.

The ECC directed the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to return within two months with a comprehensive financial sustainability plan for PTVC to address its long-term financial challenges.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Federal Minister for Investment Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan, along with senior officials from relevant ministries, divisions and regulatory authorities.
