OGDCL Commissions Jhal Magsi Gas Field, Adds 14 MMSCFD to National Supply

Islamabad (August 18, 2025): Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (PSX: OGDC) has successfully commissioned the Jhal Magsi Development Project in District Jhal Magsi, Balochistan, marking a significant step toward strengthening Pakistan’s energy supply.

The project is delivering approximately 14 Million Standard Cubic Feet per Day (MMSCFD) of pipeline-quality gas along with 45 barrels per day (BPD) of condensate. The output has been injected into the SSGC network through a newly constructed 98-kilometer gas pipeline.

Development work began in February 2024 after the government extended policy incentives, converting the project from the 1997 Petroleum Policy to the Marginal Field Gas Pricing Policy. Despite technical and regional challenges, the project was executed on an accelerated timeline to address the country’s growing energy needs.

Facilities established at the site include an Amine Unit, Dehydration Unit, Hot Oil Package, power generation system, and gathering facilities.

The Jhal Magsi Field consists of two wells, operated by OGDCL with a 56% working interest, while POL and GHPL hold 24% and 20% stakes, respectively.

OGDCL highlighted that the commissioning reaffirms its commitment to ensuring national energy security through sustainable utilization of local hydrocarbon resources.
