Pakistan and Belarus have agreed to continue consultations on secure and mutually acceptable payment mechanisms, including local-currency settlements and other alternative arrangements, to facilitate bilateral trade between the two countries.

The understanding was reached during a meeting between Belarusian Ambassador to Pakistan Andrei Metelitsa and Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, where both sides reviewed bilateral economic relations and discussed preparations for the upcoming session of the Pakistan–Belarus Joint Ministerial Commission.

According to a press release, Jam Kamal Khan said that establishing an effective financial settlement mechanism would enable businesses in both countries to better capitalize on the existing trade potential.

He identified agriculture, fertilizers, engineering goods, tractors, heavy machinery, energy products, and food commodities as key sectors with significant potential for expanding bilateral cooperation.

The two sides also reviewed progress in labour cooperation. The Belarusian ambassador informed the minister that the number of Pakistani workers employed in Belarus has increased considerably, with demand for skilled workers continuing to grow.

Both countries agreed to promote transparent recruitment practices, better skills matching, and stronger institutional coordination to further enhance employment opportunities for Pakistani workers in Belarus.

The commerce minister appreciated Belarus's engineering and industrial capabilities, particularly in the manufacturing of tractors, trucks, and agricultural machinery, and welcomed the gradual revival of cooperation in these sectors.

Preparations for the upcoming visit of the Belarusian minister and the next session of the Pakistan–Belarus Joint Ministerial Commission were also reviewed, with both sides agreeing to use the engagements to strengthen practical cooperation, resolve trade-related issues, and explore new avenues for economic partnership.
