Pakistan records $134.7m FDI divestment in December due to higher outflows

On a month-on-month basis, the country had posted foreign direct investment of $180 million in November 2025.

During 6MFY26, cumulative FDI reached $808.1 million, sharply lower than the $1.42 billion received in the corresponding period last fiscal year.

In December, gross direct investment inflows amounted to $322.5 million, reflecting a 5.87% YoY decline, while outflows surged to $457.3 million, rising more than 1.85 times YoY.

For portfolio investment under FDI, equity securities saw an outflow of $32.9 million in December 2025 versus outflows of $65.5 million in December 2024.

Foreign private investment totaled negative $167.7 million in December 2025, compared to positive private investment of $116.9 million in December 2024.

On the public side, foreign investment through equity securities showed net inflows of $46.1 million during the month.

Overall foreign divestment in December amounted to $121.6 million, up from $48 million in December 2024.

Cumulatively, total foreign investment stood at $207.4 million in 6MFY26, compared to $1.343 billion in the same period last year.
