Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC) has commenced gas production from the Sahito-1 discovery well located in the Khewari Exploration License in District Khairpur, Sindh, marking a significant step toward enhancing domestic gas supplies.

According to a notification submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the well is currently producing approximately 6.0 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas. Production is expected to increase gradually as additional surface facilities are installed and operational capacity is expanded.

To ensure early commercialization of the discovery, OGDC has completed the installation of a 6-inch, 5-kilometre flowline linking the Sahito-1 well to the Suleman Gathering Facility. The gas is subsequently processed at the Sinjhoro Plant before being injected into the SSGC network for distribution.

The development follows the company's earlier announcement on March 26, 2026, when it reported a gas discovery from the Lower Goru Formation (Massive Sand) at the Sahito-1 well.

OGDC operates the Khewari Exploration License with a 75% working interest, while Government Holdings (Private) Limited holds the remaining 25% stake.

The commencement of production is expected to contribute to Pakistan’s indigenous energy supply, support gas availability for consumers, and strengthen OGDC’s production portfolio while advancing the monetization of newly discovered reserves.
