Pakistan Stock Exchange investor base crosses 600,000 for the first time in July 2026.

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has surpassed 600,000 investors for the first time in its history, with the total investor base reaching 607,025 in July 2026, according to Advisor to the Finance Minister Khurram Schehzad.

He said July 2026 also recorded the second-highest monthly increase in investor accounts in PSX history, with 23,973 new investors joining the market during the month.

According to the advisor, the PSX investor base has expanded by more than 332,000 investors since June 2022, rising from approximately 275,000 to 607,025, representing an increase of 121% over the period.

He noted that the pace of growth has accelerated significantly in recent years. Average monthly additions increased from around 2,300 investors during FY23 and FY24 to approximately 5,300 in FY25, before surging to 15,860 in FY26, marking the strongest growth momentum in the exchange's history.

The latest expansion in investor participation has been driven largely by Generation Z and first-time retail investors, reflecting growing interest in Pakistan's equity market.

Khurram Schehzad described the rising participation as a structural shift in investor behaviour, with an increasing number of Pakistanis choosing to invest, build long-term wealth, and participate in the country's capital markets.

He added that the expanding investor base and increasing participation from a new generation of investors reflect the continued deepening of Pakistan's capital markets and growing confidence in the country's economic outlook.
