Pakistan’s scheduled bank deposits rise 15.07% year-on-year to Rs37.64 trillion in May 2026.

Deposits held by Pakistan’s scheduled banks rose 15.07% year-on-year to Rs37.64 trillion in May 2026, compared with Rs32.72 trillion in the same month last year, according to State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) data.

On a monthly basis, however, deposits edged down 0.62% from Rs37.88 trillion recorded in April 2026.

Total advances increased 13.04% year-on-year to Rs14.72 trillion, up from Rs13.02 trillion a year earlier. Compared with April, advances grew by a modest 0.37% from Rs14.67 trillion.

The Advances-to-Deposit Ratio (ADR) stood at 39.11%, declining by 70 basis points from a year earlier but increasing by 39 basis points on a monthly basis.

Meanwhile, scheduled banks’ total investments climbed 15.33% year-on-year to Rs39.93 trillion, compared with Rs34.63 trillion in May 2025. Investments also increased 0.86% month-on-month from Rs39.59 trillion in April.

The Investment-to-Deposit Ratio (IDR) reached 106.08%, rising by 24 basis points year-on-year and 156 basis points from the previous month.
