State Bank of Pakistan building representing foreign exchange reserves position

Pakistan’s total liquid foreign exchange reserves stood at USD 21.012 billion as of December 26, 2025, reflecting a marginal decline of USD 11 million compared to USD 21.023 billion recorded a week earlier, according to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). The overall reserves position showed a mixed trend during the week.

Foreign exchange reserves held by the SBP increased by USD 13 million to USD 15.915 billion, indicating a modest strengthening of the central bank’s buffers. However, net foreign reserves held by commercial banks declined to USD 5.097 billion from USD 5.120 billion, offsetting the gains made by the SBP. The slight dip in total reserves was primarily attributed to the drawdown in commercial bank holdings.
