Pakistan Oilfields Limited Bilitang-1 exploratory well hydrocarbon discovery in TAL Block

Pakistan Oilfields Limited has reported a notable exploration success at the Bilitang-1 exploratory well located in the TAL Block, where hydrocarbons were encountered after drilling to a total depth of 4,011 meters.

The well was spudded on August 10, 2025, and the discovery reflects continued progress in the company’s upstream exploration portfolio.

According to the company’s filing with the Pakistan Stock Exchange, Drill Stem Tests (DSTs) carried out on the Hangu and Lumshiwal formations yielded a gas flow rate of 1.58 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) through a 40/64-inch fixed choke, with a flowing wellhead pressure of 164 psi.

An acid stimulation program is currently in progress to improve the production potential of these formations. In addition, a Drill Stem Test for the Lockhart formation is planned, with further updates to be disclosed upon completion of testing activities.

Drill Stem Testing is a standard evaluation technique used to analyze reservoir characteristics by measuring pressure behavior and retrieving fluid samples, providing an indication of commercial viability. Actual production performance may differ from test results.

Pakistan Oilfields Limited holds a 25% pre-commerciality working interest in the project, underlining its strategic presence in the TAL Block and its ongoing contribution to Pakistan’s hydrocarbon exploration sector.
