Pakistan auto sales rise 79.6% year-on-year to 19,818 units in July 2026, according to PAMA data.

Pakistan's automobile sales, including passenger cars, light commercial vehicles (LCVs), vans and jeeps, surged 79.6% year-on-year to 19,818 units in July 2026, compared with 11,034 units sold in the corresponding month last year, according to the latest data from the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA).

Despite the strong annual increase, overall sales declined 12.9% month-on-month from 22,741 units recorded in June 2026, indicating some moderation at the start of the new fiscal year.

Passenger cars were the key driver of annual growth, with sales jumping 141.3% year-on-year to 17,216 units in July from 7,135 units in the same month last year. On a sequential basis, passenger car sales increased 12% from 15,378 units in June.

In contrast, sales of LCVs, vans and jeeps declined 33.3% year-on-year to 2,602 units, compared with 3,899 units in July 2025. The segment also recorded a sharp 64.7% month-on-month decline from 7,363 units sold in June.

With July marking the first month of FY27, cumulative automobile sales for 1MFY27 stood at 19,818 units, up 79.6% from 11,034 units in the corresponding period of FY26. Passenger car sales during the period were up 141.3% year-on-year, while LCV, van and jeep sales fell 33.3%.

Production activity also remained strong during the month. Total car production, including LCVs, vans and jeeps, increased 54.8% year-on-year to 21,668 units from 13,998 units in July last year. Production was also 3.7% higher month-on-month compared with 20,896 units manufactured in June.

Passenger car production climbed 75.6% year-on-year to 17,307 units and increased 13.8% from June's 15,209 units. Meanwhile, production of LCVs, vans and jeeps rose 5.3% year-on-year to 4,361 units but declined 23.3% month-on-month from 5,687 units.

The July figures show that the sharp year-on-year recovery in Pakistan's automobile market was largely driven by passenger cars, while the LCV, van and jeep segment remained under pressure on both annual and monthly sales comparisons.
