Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC) has signed a technology partnership with Canada's Synergetic Oil Tools Inc. to deploy advanced Passive Energy Tool technology aimed at enhancing production from Pakistan's heavy crude oil fields.

The agreement was signed at OGDC Headquarters in Islamabad in the presence of Canadian High Commissioner to Pakistan Tarik Ali Khan and OGDC Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Hayat Lak. Senior representatives from OGDC, the Canadian High Commission and Synergetic Oil Tools also attended the ceremony.

Under the agreement, Synergetic will deploy its Passive Energy Tool technology across OGDC's heavy oil wells to improve production efficiency. The technology is designed to enhance fluid flow in highly viscous crude oil reservoirs by optimizing fluid characteristics, reducing workover frequency, minimizing well downtime and lowering operating costs. It is also expected to reduce reliance on production chemicals.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ahmed Hayat Lak said the collaboration reflects OGDC's commitment to adopting advanced technologies to address production challenges in heavy oil reservoirs. He added that the company will continue pursuing partnerships with international technology providers to improve production efficiency and maximize recovery from mature oil fields.

Canadian High Commissioner Tarik Ali Khan highlighted the importance of Pakistan-Canada cooperation in the energy sector, expressing confidence that the deployment of the new technology would support the development of Pakistan's upstream oil industry.

The agreement forms part of OGDC's broader strategy to modernize its operations through innovative technologies, improve operational efficiency and strengthen long-term production growth across Pakistan's oil and gas sector.
