Meezan Bank (PSX: MEBL) posts 27% profit growth in 1H 2026 with diluted EPS of Rs28.51 and announces an additional Rs8.00 interim cash dividend.

Meezan Bank Limited (PSX: MEBL), Pakistan's leading Islamic bank, posted another strong financial performance for the half year ended June 30, 2026, reporting healthy growth in profitability and announcing an additional interim cash dividend of Rs8.00 per share (80%). This is in addition to the Rs7.50 per share (75%) interim dividend already paid, taking the cumulative interim payout for the first half of 2026 to Rs15.50 per share (155%).

On a consolidated basis, the bank's profit attributable to shareholders increased to Rs51.54 billion during the six months ended June 30, 2026, compared with Rs40.60 billion in the corresponding period last year, reflecting a growth of nearly 27%.

Accordingly, the bank's diluted earnings per share (EPS) improved to Rs28.51, compared with Rs25.81 in the same period of 2025.

Meezan Bank's profit earned on Islamic financing and related assets, investments and placements rose to Rs212.76 billion, compared with Rs180.84 billion a year earlier. After profit distributed to depositors and related expenses, net profit earned increased to Rs106.18 billion, up from Rs92.89 billion in the corresponding period of 2025.

The bank also delivered solid growth in non-funded income. Fee and commission income climbed to Rs14.26 billion, while foreign exchange income increased to Rs4.30 billion. Dividend income also improved to Rs286.28 million, helping total other income rise to Rs58.85 billion. Consequently, total income increased to Rs165.03 billion, compared with Rs144.98 billion in the same period last year.

On the expenditure side, operating expenses increased to Rs42.14 billion from Rs37.62 billion, while profit before taxation advanced to Rs103.37 billion, compared with Rs80.44 billion in the first half of 2025.

Despite a higher tax charge of Rs51.84 billion, the bank maintained strong earnings momentum, with consolidated profit attributable to shareholders reaching Rs51.54 billion for the six-month period.

The Board of Directors declared an interim cash dividend of Rs8.00 per share (80%), payable in addition to the Rs7.50 per share (75%) interim dividend already distributed, reaffirming Meezan Bank's commitment to delivering consistent returns to shareholders while maintaining its position as Pakistan's leading Islamic banking institution
